Monday felt like sunday!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and a great beginning to their week. Here in the US we celebrated Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in this nation's service and appreciation to the ones still serving. Next year I hope to go to a parade or something like that; this year we just stayed home with the boys since yesterday they spent so much time out in the sun. That's the reason I didn't post my "scavenger hunt" finds...

1. Classic Still life- what a short life this little creatures have and yet all the good they do for us.

2.Self Portrait- This is not necessarily where you will find me although I would love to have more pictures of me.

3. On the floor- this is such a common sight around our house. My youngest loves going around the house and creating little parking lots and if I or anyone moves them you get in trouble.....and balls; he LOVES balls any size, color and hardness. I'm sure one day I will look back and miss this stage of life.

4. Lines- I know this are more commonly referred as stripes but no matter what photo I saw I kept coming back to this.

5. Fresh - Here in AZ there is nothing like the fresh water splashing against your skin on a hot summer day.

Doing the scavenger hunts has been very fun.....click on the button on my side bar to take a look at the rest of the interpretations of this words. Thank you for stopping by to see mine :)

Where are you Asparagus?

I really believe this has been the hardest color by far for me. Again I had different ideas and own different things the are green that I thought would for work but nothing has and it almost the end of the of the time when you can submmit a photo so I went digging and found this one that I think works......

What do you think?

Project64 / week 20 / Asparagus

The only reason I photographed this is because it's behind glass and my sons love animals ANY kind of animal. I mean it is a beauty behind glass :) This was taken at the San Diego Zoo last summer. Can't wait to go back!

Have a great weekend surrounded by you family and friends!!!

Live Every Moment - Vibrant Colors

   It's Friday yey!
I love the weekends specially when I know we are going to be spending time with family that we haven't seen in a while. This Sunday we are going to see my mother in law she has been so busy working that we haven't seen her in a long time....okay we saw her at the beginning of April but for us not seeing her for almost two months just doesn't work. She really is the best mother in law God could have given me. We all wish we could be closer but it is what it is.

This is mostly a photography blog with sprinkles of anything else that sparks my creativity so here is the photos for today.....

http://liveeverymom.blogspot.com/  has a challenge every week and this week was "Vibrant Colors" I was able to get several that would work great for this however I keept going back to this one.....

Nature is amazing it can turn this awesome fruit from green and hard to soft, juicy and sweet "ciruelas"(I didn't know but I guess they are consider a small plum)that come in hues of yellow, orange, red and even plum! They're absolutely delicious!
This you see is a very special photo to me. I took it in 2009 with my little "point and shot" while I was visiting my grandparents in a small little town six hour away from Mexico City. A beautiful place where time really does goes slower. I hadn't seen my grandparents in over 10 years and although this was not a planned visit(I might explain at a later time) now I'm so glad that I was there because soon after that visit my grandmother past away. That little point and shoot enable me to capture the last photos of her which will be treausred for ever. I'm thankful for the time I had with her. I can't wait to take my boys and my hubby to see the place where I was born, to visit the church where my parents got married that still stand even after all this time, to visit my brother and his little family who are so far away.

This last two photos are scenes that happen quite often in my house and not always because of the boys.

Happy Friday!

I'll find me here this summer!

So far three day out of this week I have spend time around a pool not in it yet because for me the water it's still too cold but soon I'm sure I'll be in it complaining of how hot it is. I love to see my boys having so much fun and experiencing things that I didn't get to do as a child.

He spent most of the time running around in the splash pad than in the pool but still had so much fun.

P.S Thank you all for the comments on my previous post.
I notice I have a couple new followers although I can see who it is because I think blogger is having some issues. I don't think is the computer because it's like that no matter from where I view my blog.
So to those new followers welcome; I hope you enjoy my learning experience.

Click it Up a Notch

Since I have been entering several contest just for fun why not another one :) right?

Courtney at http://www.clickitupanotch.com/ is hosting What's your favorite/best photo for the month of May; now that's hard because how do you choose just one! Yes I know we still have a few days in May but we can choose our favorite so far. Actually I had help once I narrowed down from over 800 plus pictures to just a few then asked my boys (meaning hubby and kids) we all decided that the following is our favorite......
This was taken last week on a strangely windy day for May in Az so this little guy was sitting on his stroller keeping warm and cozy.

We love it for several reasons; he is just a special little guy that I have the pleasure to take care of while his parents work. He actually turned 6 months yesterday... happy 6 month birthday little buddy!!! I can't wait to do a six month session with him and his wonderful parents. I have my head packed with ideas.

The photographer in us(hubby included-without him not sure I could follow this crazy dream of mine) loves the fact that this is SOOC no editing at all!  Yes, I know you can sharpen the eyes on Photoshop to have them look like this but truth be told I don't really know how to do that yet and that is why it makes us so happy to have this picture look like this. On this particular day we were using a brand new peice of glass (Micro 60mm f2.8) on our D7000 settings were as follow
1/640s  f3.2  ISO400 and we had the focus point set on "spot" right in between his eyes. We were under a ramada but he could still see the sky.

1st scavenger hunt!

Okay so I have seen this an several blogs I follow and/or visit and I finally decided to give it a try. I will have to confess that for this first time I turned to my folders for pictures but I'm already hunting for the images that will be submitted  for next week.

Here is my photographic interpretations for the words: my passion, sound of music, inner beauty, ethereal and sharp.

Besides my family, photography is one of my biggest passions.

As I gotten older I have exposed myself to so many different genres and have discover so much beautiful music new and old.

My sister's physical beauty is no match for her inner beauty!

I had to look up the meaning of "ethereal" and now I can explain why I love this picture. It might be breaking several photography rules but to me is perfect.

Any photographer knows that when you get something this "sharp" with so much detail and a perfect boken straight from the camera it makes you jump for joy or at least it does me and my hubby.

If you would like to give this a try just for fun click on the "Scavenger hunt Sunday" button on the side. There you also be able to see how others interpret  these words.

Have a great rest of your week!

Cowboy hats & Boucy balls

Again it has been a while since my last post....sorry. I haven't stopped shooting I just haven't sat down to actually type a post. There is so much going on right now. Afterall this is the end of the school year which by the way it came so fast. May really seems like a blur there was Mother's Day, Mother's day Tea at my sons preschool, my mom's birthday, preschool "graduation" and the end of the year field trip. It has been about two days with out school and my son is already asking if today is a school day!! It really does make me happy that he enjoys going to school :)

He is so ready to start kindergarden; I in the other hand well .....yes I'm very happy and excited for him yet at the same time there is a little sadness but I need to snap out of it and just cherish every moment.
This is how they looked this past Tuesday for "graduation"

Only the oldest graduated but of course the little brother wanted to be like his big brother so I had two cowboys for a day.

Fifteen little boys and girls are all ready for the great big world of kindergarden :)

I was kind of worried about this part of the ceremony because the year before this I came just to take some pictures; I saw that the teacher does a little slide show of pictures that were taken during the year and on this particular year it play "Let them be little" this song always makes me choke up. This year was different but just as special everyone enjoyed it.

On to the coloring for Project64

Project64 / week 19 / Cerulean
This is my youngest son's little hand holding his priced possesions....bouncy rubber balls or just about any ball for that matter. He really just loves balls. He has way too many; several of the same yet he can remember where he puts each one of them.

He told me
" Look mommy these are the blue color you're looking for right?"

I really need to go to bed but before I publish this I wanted to share some of the first pictures my oldest son has taken with his "new camera" we gave him my second point and shot because he had been asking to take pictures with ours and those are too heavy(expensive) for him to be walking around with it.

I love it when he tells me
"Look I'm being a photographer like you and daddy"

   Have a great weekend :)

Tumbleweed and caffeine

This was a looooong week or at least it seemed long to me :) I knew when the color of the week was announced for Project64 I would capture one of my weaknesess....ice cream! Usually it's strawberry but lately it's this one; good thing we don't keep tons of this on the fridge otherwise I might be in trouble :)

Project64 / week 18 / Tumbleweed

My boys asked me "How could something so good be bad for you?" so I told them it's all about moderation then they say "How do you eat just a little bit when it's so yummy?" All really good questions that I ask myself quite often but don't get an answer.

Arizona is getting HOT like close to 100 degrees HOT so iced coffee is perfect in the mornings. Notice there is no ice left because I was watching my boys play outside in the back yard at about 9:30 am and it melted because it was already to hot!

I would like to add that I'm not a big coffee drinker...I'm more of a every once in a while but lately it has been more often than that.

Have a great weekend!

New challenge

I just found a new challenge to join.....yes another one. I really NEED this one. As the creative person that I am; I always go about my day thinking of so many different things that I could and want to do sometimes a forget to just enjoy the moments. This new challenge I think will help me with that. As the aspiring photographer that I'm; I am always looking for the perfect moment, light, composition etc etc... but life is much more than that.
I want to make sure I capture memories for my children to remember their lives by. I want then to look at their photos close their eyes and be able to smell the aromas that were lingering in the air at the moment the photo was taken. I want them to feel the cool breeze as they ran around at the park on spring afternoons. I want them to feel the joy they felt as children. I want them to know they were loved inmensely.

Okay the simple explanation of the "right now challenge" is to just capture life as it happens with out trying to stage or plan the documentation of your family's everyday life....so here are the my "right now" moments of this week.

There are days that seem to drag on for what seems like forever but I know they are growing so fast each and everyday. I know one day I will wish they were little again. I'm so gratefull that I have the luxury to be able to stay home and take care of them as hard as it is at times; I wouldn't want it any other way.

I hope each one of you has a great Mother's Day! I know maybe not everyone is a mother or has their mom with them and to those I wish you guys a good weekend surrounded by your love ones.

Friday afternoon at the garden!

I have been looking for "red violet" everywhere but I had no luck or maybe it was just me that wasn't quite pleased with my finds.  However on Thursday a friend of mine informed me that on Friday was National Gardens Day and to celebrate it the Desert Botanical Gardens had a FREE entrance day which included their butterfly exhibit(we didn't make it to this but we still had fun) I was happy to see they still had "The Desert Towers" created for the garden by Dale Chihuly. My boys really enjoyed walking along the trails, listening to the bull frog and seeing all the different plants native to our desert. Here some of the pictures we got...

If I had the time I would sit and watch this bloom!

The light hitting this grasses was so dreamy and perfect. I would love to photograph here a special little baby that will turn one by thanksgiving of this year but we will see there is so much time in between :)

Project64 / week-17 / red violet
I found my "red violet" finally...I knew there were different shades to a color but I really had no idea how many!

Love these two shots against the sun!

Last photo before heading home, happy to have spent such a nice afternoon in the outdoors before it gets super hot!
